A food company just reached out to me and told me that they would want to allow their user to be able to order food online with the aid of an application. I am going to walk you through the steps I used to solve this problem through design thinking.

EMPATHY STAGE

The first thing I did was to take a brief of the stakeholder(the food company), this part allowed me to understand what is the company’s goal, which was to allow the user to order food online from there nearest food vendor close to them.

RESEARCH: After the brief, we decided to run some research first on the user; we did this by doing some interview with their customers which was subscribed to their Email list with some questionnaire using google forms. Then we created some user persona from the result of the questionnaire, we also did some competitor analysis, the feasibility of the technology in the food industry, and some constraints in other application in the food industry.

DEFINE STAGE

CASE STUDY: we came up with a strong case study which 90% of our user were complaining about which was the TIME IT’S TAKES FOR THEIR ORDER TO GET TO THEM and THE STRESS IT TAKES TO GO TO THE FAST FOOD.

IDEATION PHASE

We came up with a concept to solve this problem which was “an app which will allow the user to order food within their location with a driver close by to pick up their order and get it in less than 30 minute”.Then we started with a sitemap so we can determine the information architecture of the app, created a design system so we will have consistency throughout the app, then we started sketching some of the screens that will be in the app and some user flow. we design some wireframes and was able to give feedback to our stakeholders on how the app structure was.

PROTOTYPE

Our prototype phase was divided into two part first; prototype for low fidelity design and prototype for high fidelity design. we were able to prototype for the low fidelity design(the wireframe) with Figma, the reason was to show the stakeholder how the app would be able to work with some of the features like ordering a ride to get your order. then we prototype for our high fidelity design on the team and some user, we were able to notice some constraints like the payment buttons were not accessible to some user.

TESTING

we tested the product using the A/B testing methods(we designed two types of the product) we found out that one of the product was very easy to use and the other was giving the user some issues eg looking for the nearest driver close to them.

CONCLUSION

I and my team were able to figure out the solve the problem that was associated with ordering food online.
