MEANING

Heuristics evaluation is the process by which designers use the rule of thumb to carry out the USABILITY of the user interface in different user journey and pain point.

PRINCIPLES

  1. Visibility of system status
  2. Match between system and the real world
  3. User control and freedom
  4. Consistency and standard
  5. Error prevention
  6. Recognition rather than recall
  7. Flexibility and efficiency of use
  8. Aesthetics and minimalist design
  9. Help user recognize, diagnose and recover from the problem
  10. Help and documentation

HOW TO CONDUCT HEURISTIC EVALUATION

  1. Testing some particular user flow of the product or testing the entire product, the goal is to know what and why we are testing the product or flows.
  2. Knowing our users, their goals and pain point; user persona can be used as an evaluation to help us understand the user.
  3. Select relevant expertise or evaluator in usability testing.
  4. Define the heuristics they will be testing for.
  5. Allow the evaluators to use the product so as identify a problem or element to analyze.
  6. The evaluators should be able to identify problems with the elements or product in accordance with the heuristic principles.
  7. Debrief the evaluators
